In our last post we talked about securing your garage door with Control4. This may have left you wondering about all the other entry doors on your house and if they can get any “smarter”. With Control4, they certainly can. In fact, currently Control4 can work with 3 different brands of smart locks to keep your home secured.

Control4 Smart Locks

The Kwikset, Yale and Baldwin smart locks are the first locks capable of working with the Control4 home system to monitor the comings and goings of your home. Each of these smart locks has a keypad and deadbolt that act as the first line of defense in your home’s security. The keypad syncs to your home’s security system so when the code is entered, the system is automatically disabled. The code entry can also work with other smart systems in your home and be preset to turn on lights or adjust the thermostat upon entry. With the Control4 app on your phone, you can lock or unlock the door virtually from anywhere in the world and be alerted when someone else enters the house.

Since each lock is pre-configured to work seamlessly with the Control4 home system, installation is a breeze and requires no hard-wiring. The locks are powered by 4 AA batteries that need to be replaced yearly.

The security features of each lock closely resemble one another as does the easy installation each provides. The differences lie mostly in aesthetics, leaving your decision up to personal preference. Each of the locks offer several finishes such as: satin nickel, bronze and brass. You may also consider not just the look but the “old-school” function of the lock itself. For instance, you may prefer the deadbolt lock separate from the keypad.

Or you may like the look of a lever or a lock and handle. And of course, we couldn’t possibly consider something “smart” if there wasn’t a touchscreen option as well.

There’s no place like a secure home. Take advantage of what technology has to offer when it comes to protecting your home and your loved ones with Control4 locks.
