marantz-sr7008-receiverHeard the term, “you get what you pay for?” This usually means low cost equals low quality, and cleaning out your checking account means a superior product – especially for home theater equipment. Marantz, a company known for quality and value, has raised the bar for audiophiles with the launch of its new network receiver line, once again proving you can have it all.

Marantz recently launched the SR5008, SR6008 and SR7008 network receivers, upgrading from previous versions, but still keeping true to the Marantz quality expectation. Each of the receivers is equipped with Marantz’s proprietary technology, HDAM  (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module), which gives music a fresh, live sound often not found in all-purpose receivers. Previously, the HDAM technology was only available in the considerably more expensive flagship and Reference line of products from Marantz. But with the SR series, HDAM is available to a wide range of customers.

The three models in the SR line all have slight differences in both quality and look. The best of the bunch, the SR7008, has 7 HDMI inputs and 3 outputs, 9.2-channel AV receiver with 125-watts per channel amplifiers, and a brushed aluminum front panel with a folding door. The SR7008 has Audyssey Technology, which automatically calibrates speakers and equalizes the home theater system for amazing sound, even in oddly shaped rooms. Plus, this system keeps bass, clarity and surround sound even at low volumes, so it’s perfect for small homes or apartments.

On the other end of the spectrum, the SR5008 receiver has 7 HDMI inputs, 1 output, 7.2.-channels with 100-watts per channel, and a much simpler design. The SR6008 (retailing at about $1,199) is a great balance between the two, with 7 HDMI inputs and 2 outputs and 110-watts per channel.

All three receivers have 3D pass-through and 4K Ultra HD capabilities, networking capability (which allows consumers to stream Pandora, SiriusXM, Spotify Premium and more than 12,000 additional radio stations) and Apple’s AirPlay technology (to stream songs from your computer or iTunes library) for effortless streaming audio, and a three-year warranty. The products come with the receiver, remote control, FM antenna, quick setup guide and Audyssey setup microphone.

The Marantz SR series starts at $850 and is available online or through Home Theater Solutions.
